Radiate Confidence: How to prepare for your brand Photoshoot and Beauty Tips

Whilst we know that beauty is most definitely not just about the outside; ultimately we all want to look our best… beautiful, radiant, slim and lovely. And this is double the truth when it comes to your brand photos, which will ultimately be the face of your business. So  if you are preparing and planning your brand photography session, here are some beauty tips which will make you look your best on your photoshoot day.

So as you know from the initial blog post and my freebie “How to Look Your Best and Confident in Your Photos”  (you can find it here if you missed it), this series is all about sharing insider tips and knowledge on how to look your best in any photo… whether it’s being taken by a professional photographer, by your friend or it’s a selfie with your man.

And this blog post is about you and your body, and how to prepare it for the shoot the few days before.

1, Water, water, water

Drink plenty of water to hydrate before your day. No need for explanation here, right but it’s 100% true that plenty of water will make you look more radiant and less puffy, as well as giving you more energy. The day or two before, please try to avoid any alcohol. I know, bummer, especially as you might need to calm your nerves, but trust me, it will pay off in the photos. You can then celebrate after the shoot with a nice glass of champagne ;).

2, Treat your body as a temple

Since we are talking about what you should be drinking, let’s cover the other part – what you should NOT drink and eat before a photoshoot.

Aside from the obvious ‘not indulging the night before’ (try to stay away from alcohol, soda, salty and sugary food and dairy too), simply avoid food and drink that you know makes you feel generally unwell or bloated. Needless to say, if you feel bloated and lethargic you won’t enjoy the shoot and this will come across in the photos.

3, Secret weapon no. 1

As Raj (from The Big Bang Theory) quoted, “The most powerful weapon in your makeup bag is a good night’s sleep”. But not only the night before (if you actually can fall asleep with all the excitement :), but even more importantly – get as much sleep as you can two nights before your big day. Don’t ask me how I know this little but powerful secret – I just do  and wanted to share this magic trick with you.

4, Hands can say a thousand words

Don’t forget the little details – your hands will be seen in most of the photographs so a manicure (and pedicure if you want) is a must.

5, Move

Do a gentle exercise or even just stretching or a brisk walk the day before and on the day… you will feel much better in your body and it will also relax you & make you happier (every endorphin counts). If you actually exercise on a regular basis, even better …

6, Relax and exfoliate

Make sure that the night before the shoot you have some time for yourself. Just relax with a nice salt/milk bath, aromatherapy candles, and soothing music. I call it the “Cleopatra night” :)… so go on and treat yourself like a queen, you deserve it. Oh… and exfoliate so your skin is bright and radiant.

7, Have all your clothes ready

As mentioned in my previous blog post about how to prepare for a shoot (you can find it here) you should have all outfits, planned and prepared. All outfits selected should make you feel good and fabulous.

8, Make-up & hair

Trust me, this one is a game-changer. You will feel a million bucks if you have your hair and make-up done by a professional. Make-up for photography is a bit different, so unless you are truly experienced, I would recommend booking a professional to do your hair and make-up on the day of the shoot. Besides what’s wrong with a little pampering… you can always schedule a lovely date night after the shoot – since you will look and feel most amazing. It’s a total win win right.

I am happy to recommend a selection of handpicked trusted make-up ladies that would be happy to help.

Also, if you decide to do your makeup and hair, I can recommend some amazing products that work well with cameras and truly make you shine. Just get in touch here

9, Trust your photographer

On the day of your shoot… just enjoy, have fun and let loose. It’s my responsibility as your photographer to make you look absolutely amazing in your photos, and you don’t have to worry about anything – just where will you use all these amazing images.

As always, if you have any further tips or questions, please feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to help.

Always in your corner.

Love
